MONTGOMERY – Governor Kay Ivey on Wednesday issued her fifteenth supplemental emergency proclamation containing an amended Safer at Home Order that includes a statewide mask requirement. Individuals will be required to wear a mask or other facial covering when in public and in close contact with other people, as described in the order. This amended order extends until August 31, 2020, at 5:00 p.m.

AlabamaWorks! and the Alabama Workforce Council (AWC) are pleased to announce the Governor’s Survey of Employer Competencies. This new tool will survey business owners in each sector and region of the state to assist the Alabama Committee on Credentialing and Career Pathways (ACCCP) with identifying the current in-demand occupations and competencies, as well as the credentials of value aligned to those occupations.

Due to COVID19, the Gateway Initiative was forced into a full-time business advocacy role to provide vital information and resources to our investors to help them navigate to the “New Normal”.

As businesses have come back on-line, the Gateway Initiative has pivoted back to its mission of providing programming to accelerate business growth. An example of this programming is evident in the work we are doing with Plasmine Technology, Inc. in Bay Minette.

Ed Bushaw and Sally Westendorf at the Gateway Initiative have always had a passion for career and technical education especially when it comes to hospitality. In fact, every time I am in South Baldwin County I visit a new venue that they suggest. Thanks to them I have had the good fortune of fulfilling my guilty pleasure of fried seafood at Wolf Bay, pretending I am still young at the Hang Out and I have enjoyed the fine dining at Voyagers.
