Gateway to Great Careers
Recruiting is a crucial part of Gateway's workforce development for students as it bridges the gap between theory from the classroom and application in a career. Students can learn about the real-world job market demands by going on field trips and learning about the daily responsibilities of various careers within our community. By connecting students with potential career opportunities, Gateway to Great Careers equips them with the knowledge needed to successfully navigate the full range of their future careers. This proactive approach fosters confidence and readiness for the workforce, ultimately setting them up for long-term success in their chosen fields.
Gulf Shores High School
Starting in 2023, Gateway kicked off industry tours for Gulf Shores High School to showcase local career opportunities. This year we're excited to visit seven different industries, offering students a firsthand look at potential careers in our community. These tours aim to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences and help students explore various professions right in their own backyard.
Foley High School
Building on the success of last year, we're excited to expand our efforts this school year to add Foley High School. We plan to offer seven distinct industry tours for FHS, that differ from GSHS based on the specific courses and career pathways offered at each school. This approach aims to provide a meaningful exploration of potential careers, helping students make informed decisions about their futures while showcasing the rich array of opportunities right in our community.
University Students
As we look to the future, we plan to expand our recruiting efforts to reach university students. By connecting with universities nationwide, we aim to introduce students to local career paths and internships that align with their studies. This opportunity will help our workforce retain employees during prime vacation months and provide experiences and training to improve the connection between academics and future career prospects.
